Mocali Brunello di Montalcino 2010
|Region||Italy, Tuscany, Brunello di Montalcino|
The mix of cherry, strawberry, eucalyptus and juniper flavors is focused, building to an excellent finish. This is well-structured and lingers on the earth- and mineral-laden finish. Best from 2019 through 2035. 4,150 cases made.
Mocali's 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is an absolutely delicious wine with plenty of near-term appeal, especially if it is given some air to allow the tannins to unwind a bit. Smoke, sweet herbs, ripe black stone fruits and tobacco are laced throughout nicely in this aromatically open, high-toned Brunello. Pliant, open and highly expressive, yet with plenty of underlying substance, the 2010 is a gorgeous wine from Mocali.
A wine with beautifully ripe dark fruits. Full body, chewy tannins and a long flavorful finish. Needs time to open. Better in 2016.
This opens with aromas of toasted oak, black plum, graphite and grilled sage. The palate offers dried cherry, prune and dried tobacco leaf alongside extremely astringent tannins that completely dry out the mouth.
