Ramey Jericho Canyon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon 2004

Inky purple. Graphite- and tobacco-accented cherry and cassis aromas reminded me of top-end Saint-Julien. Focused, pure red- and blackcurrant flavors are energized by impressive mineral lift. This remarkably concentrated cabernet finishes with firm but harmonious tannins and explosive sweetness.
The wine shows a soft ripeness and depth of flavor, yet is balanced, with good acidity. Gorgeous structure; it is already forward and fleshy in cassis, raspberry, cherry, milk chocolate and smoky oak flavors. A touch of funky raw meat adds a complexing note. Drink nowâ€â€Å"2011 or so
Intense, vibrant and focused, with spicy currant and blackberry fruit that's well-defined, complex and supple-textured. Yet this has the desired backbone of acidity and earthy tannins. Decant. Best from 2008 through 2013.
